Japanese inspiration - Miyuki Matsuo









After reading (or should I say looking at the pictures) Udagawa Kazumi's handmade stationary book I decided to take a closer look at the lovely work of Illustrator Miyuki Matsuo. I love her freehand style designs and folk inspired prints. Her work reminds me of vintage materials.

Japanese Craft books








Okay so after discovering the wonders of MT tape...a whole new crafty-licious Japanese world has opened up before my eyes! Searching for a book by handmade stationary queen Udagawa Kazumi in Kinokuniya, I found hundreds of other mini craft books too. There is pretty much one on any subject you can imagine (felt button making anyone?) so I had to rein in sudden desires to make EVERYTHING and buy just a couple. Ugada's handmade stationary made the selectin but also couldn't resist this guide to the best boutique shops in Tokyo. Both books have some great interviews with different designers and shop owners. Now off to practice my Japanese reading, this could take a while...
